What is the Essence of Life?

As I reclined on the black leather-coated study chair in the middle of my Macgyvered office space, reminiscing the troughs and crests of the waveform that marked my pursuit of success in business, writing, and medicine, it hit me again, “why all these struggles, and efforts?” I could just settle for my 9 to 5 job (technically my job schedule is most ly 6am to 6am…lol) and salary, live and die an average man like most people. Why strive to achieve above average and make a lasting impact on the world? As this discourse autonomously run wild in the limitless field of my mind, all the thoughts and questions seem to converge at an epicenter- “What is the essence of life?

This question has plagued my young mind for years. In all these years, mother nature keeps giving me the same answer (we will explore that in a bit).

There are just times when you have worked so hard, with very little immediate results, that you can’t help but wonder, again,  “What is the essence of life? Why are we even here only to cross back, into the invisible world after a few decades of striving?

The answers lie in what I have come to philosophically term  the Build-Self-And-Build-Others (BSaBO)  philosophy which says:

Work hard and smart to build yourself

Make good money

Give your family the best of everything this temporary world has to offer

Help others Build themselves and impart as many lives as possible.

Someone might still ask, all these achievements to what end?

Well, the answer depends on your theistic predisposition.

I am a firm follower of Rick Warren’s approach to the subject. We are part of a limitless cosmic being who through us seeks to experience the physical realm. In Genesis 1:28 God said “Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it. This was after  God had formed man in his own image and likeness.

You don’t have to be a Christian to accept this view. All theories of creation/evolution culminate at one point – All nature is one and connected.

We are here that through us the unseen and intangible part of the cosmic Universe (it doesn’t matter whatever appellation you ascribe to Her) may experience the physical realm eternally. To ensure this continuous experience, there must be a continuous propagation of the human race, with each of us having a role to play in this continuous propagation.

How can we truly fulfill our obligation to the cosmic Universe?

You know the answer already. Follow the BSaBO philosophy of life and you will naturally be playing your part in this eternal existence.

In the end, we must accept that we were not just put here purposelessly. I believe that understanding, the BSaBO philosophy, finding your calling and purpose, and following it, is an effective approach to attaining fulfillment in life.

But who knows… I may just be proposing an unsanctified philosophy, and we will never truly know what the essence of Life is…

But once we are here already, we have to make it count!!!
